Jessica Huie founded Colorblind Cards in May 2006 having recognised a complete absence of greeting cards featuring non-Caucasian children/adults in the high street. Within nine months Colorblind cards was on the shelves of 100 branches of Clinton cards.
In 2007 Jessica won the Enterprising Young Brit award, and subsequently caught the eye of the Prime Minister Gordon Brown who invited her to No.10 Downing street to advise the PM of how to create a more enterprising Britain. America’s largest card distributor found Colorblind cards and the range is now particularly popular in Washington!
In 2008 Jessica founded JH Public Relations following a successful ten-year career in media (working for Max Clifford for 7 of them). In 2008 the Observer newspaper named Jessica as an "entrepreneur to watch” and The Evening Standard voted her third in the "Britain's most inspirational Entrepreneurs" Awards. Jessica won both the "Best Business" and "Entrepreneur of the year" at the Precious Awards in 2007.
The PRECIOUS Awards was founded to celebrate the achievements of inspirational entrepreneurial women of colour who are running businesses in the UK. The Awards are about recognising success and inspiring other women of colour to launch their own business. We also recognise women in the workplace with the PRECIOUS Leadership within the Workplace Award.
